Staying put

after an eventful morning of hire boats crashing into us and speeding by we decided to move 1/2 a mile onto a wider piece of canal, jim had trouble getting in behind us so they went on a little further, the fun and games continued here as hire boats kept crashing into one another at the bridge hole, at least it wasn't me they were hitting this time.

strange plant, don't know what it is.

This is a vial set into a piece of what i presume is man made stone seeing as it's a very snug fit, i think it's to collect insect specimens, i will check tomorrow to see if any has been caught.

  1. The vial in the stone is probably a geocache (www.geocaching.com). My wife is hooked on it, and would refer to you as a muggle, I'm afraid...

  3. It's not an insult, it's just what anyone who isn't a geocacher is apparently called. There are millions of geocaches hidden around the world. You can download the GPS coordinates into a satnav or phone and then search for local caches. They vary in size, but always include some sort of log book or tiny roll of paper for you to write on, then you log it as a "find" on your geocache account online. The good thing about it is that it encourages you to explore footpaths and places that you wouldn't normally get to see. Some of them are frustratingly well hidden!
