To Manchester and Beyond

Today we set off from little bollington on the Bridgewater canal with the intention of mooring up at Castlefields so we didn't set off till 10am as Castlefields was only 6 miles away, so when we get there nick decided we might as well carry on and get the locks out of the way so we did, The Rochdale 9 were big heavy locks and as usual no other boats were near, then onto the Ashton Canal, this is where we had low water pounds and i got stuck 3 times in different pounds and also got a hessian bag round the prop, luckily i was still in the lock when it grabbed hold so was easy to remove, then there was a lock with a very fierce weir wich dragged me to it, i was in full reverse but still hit the wall with a tremendous bang, because i was dragged over the weir i found myself grounded on top of lot's of metal under the water that was hitting the prop as i tried to move, anyway crisis averted it took us 20 minutes to get into the lock, the next pound wasnt as bad and got better as we went up the locks,so we finally finished the last lock at about 8pm then  we encounted the dreaded LOW BRIDGE, the headroom is 6 foot so we didn't know if we would have to remove the solar panel's and boxs off the roof, thankfully we didn't have to, so moored up just after there and went to the Red Lounge indian Restaurant for dinner, well it was too late to cook, dinner had and we moved on to the Peak Forest where we moored for the night. What  Day :)
